What Lurks Below - Enhanced Edition
You are a researcher on an expedition to retrieve a mysterious artifact from the claws of the abyss.
... but beware of What Lurks Below
This is an overhauled version of What Lurks Below, originally created for the Chili Code Jam over a span of 7 days.
Important to note
The compass functions exactly as described in-game: stand still and a green arrow will show you the way.
The game does not crash when you press quit. It stops running as intended, itch just doesn't care.
Controls
When mouse mode is enabled, you move by pointing the cursor in a direction. The further away the cursor is from the player, the faster you move (It is capped though, you can't move at the speed of sound with an ultrawide monitor).
Changes
- added keyboard support
- improved UI
- made the compass more visible to old man eyes
- increased flood light brightness
-increased stationary light radius and brightness
- fixed a softlock involving a checkpoint
- 'brightness' slider
- better volume slider
//SPOILERS
- Otto now cannot pick the last selected static navigation position in addition to the current one (previously the only restriction), i.e. he should no longer stall between 2 positions, making him more mobile while in this state
- Otto's turn rate is now properly limited
Things that weren't changed
Didn't add improved guidance for players encountering interactables in the wrong order because I really didn't feel like it.
